Graham Potter’s future as a football manager is even more intriguing because he is being considered for the position of manager of Sweden’s national team. This news was announced not long after Potter’s name was suggested as a possible successor to Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager.

Following his departure from Chelsea in April, the 48-year-old Englishman is currently unemployed. Potter had a mixed record during his time at Chelsea, winning 12 of his team’s 31 games before being fired after a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

According to recent speculations, Potter might be considered for the Manchester United management position should Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS and the team’s ownership decide to make a change. Ratcliffe is about to acquire a 25% minority share in the team, and he is anticipated to make a number of adjustments to the Old Trafford support staff.

Chief executive Dave Brailsford of INEOS highly regards Potter’s leadership skills, and the idea of Potter taking the helm of the team was being entertained. Additionally, there had previously been connections between Potter and Nice, another team that Ratcliffe owned, as well as rumors that Napoli was interested in hiring the manager.

Following Janne Anderson’s departure, Potter is now emerging as a strong candidate to head Sweden’s national team. Sweden’s national team needs new leadership after they were unable to qualify for Euro 2024.

Potter’s seven and a half-year stay with Ostersund, when he was instrumental in their promotion from the fourth division to the Europa League, is what ties him to the Swedish football scene. Potter is a candidate for the role, the Swedish FA’s general secretary Andrea Mllerberg revealed.

Potter’s future is uncertain because he is still in high demand in the football community. His choice to accept or decline the position of manager of the Sweden national team may have an impact on the managerial landscape at several clubs, including Manchester United. Erik ten Hag’s tenure as Manchester United manager is currently under more strain in light of the team’s recent 3-0 loss to Manchester City.
