Martin Zubimendi’s return to Real Sociedad’s starting lineup against Manchester United drew attention, especially with Arsenal and Liverpool closely monitoring him.

Both clubs had previously attempted to sign the 26-year-old midfielder, and Arsenal is reportedly considering triggering his £51 million release clause.

However, after his first-half performance at Old Trafford, some Arsenal fans were unimpressed. Many took to social media to express doubts about whether Zubimendi could truly strengthen their midfield.

One fan questioned his impact, saying they had only seen him stand out for Spain, while another suggested Arsenal should target Bruno Guimarães instead.

Despite the skepticism, pundit Jamie Carragher shared a different view on Monday Night Football.

He argued that Arsenal’s main issue might not be finding a striker but adding creativity in midfield. He noted that Zubimendi, as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, could bring a different dynamic to the team and help them compete more effectively in the Premier League next season.

Zubimendi’s form has faced scrutiny, particularly after he was substituted at halftime due to injury in Real Sociedad’s 4-0 loss to Barcelona.

He then missed the Europa League match against Manchester United, where Sociedad exited the competition after a 5-2 aggregate defeat.

Despite these setbacks, he has previously shown his quality, earning praise in Sociedad’s win over Espanyol in February.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal fans remain divided over whether Zubimendi would be the right addition to their squad, while the club continues to assess its priorities.
