Chelsea’s 3-2 win over West Ham ended in chaos as a mass brawl broke out between players from both sides, with the Premier League later explaining the reasoning behind Jean-Clair Todibo’s red card.

Chelsea struggled early, going behind after Jarrod Bowen’s attempted delivery somehow slipped past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Crysencio Summerville then doubled West Ham’s lead before halftime, leaving the hosts struggling across the pitch.

Manager Liam Rosenior’s three halftime changes proved decisive. The comeback began when Wesley Fofana delivered a brilliant ball for Joao Pedro to head in 12 minutes into the second half.

Marc Cucurella then scored from close range after West Ham failed to clear another dangerous cross. Chelsea eventually sealed the win with Cole Palmer finishing off a pass from Enzo Fernandez. However, celebrations at Stamford Bridge were marred by late-game chaos.

Todibo Sent Off for Losing Composure

In the closing stages, a challenge between Adama Traore and Cucurella near the corner escalated when Traore threw the Spaniard down. Joao Pedro intervened by shoving Traore, sparking a wider confrontation as players from both teams rushed in.

Amid the scuffle, West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo grabbed Joao Pedro by the throat in anger, intensifying the situation while match officials tried to regain control.

    Premier League Explains Red Card

Following a VAR review, officials concluded that Todibo’s action amounted to violent conduct, warranting a straight red card.

The Premier League’s Match Centre stated: “Following the review, West Ham’s number 25 grabbed Chelsea’s number 20 by the throat in an aggressive fashion. Consequently, the final ruling was a red card for violent conduct.”
