He spent 12 years developing his abilities, and since moving from Atletico Madrid to Manchester in 2011, he has become one of the most renowned goalkeepers in the club’s history.

David sent the following message to the Manchester United supporters on his official Twitter account to convey his sincere gratitude:
“I said goodbye to all the Manchester United supporters with a sorrowful heart. I want to express how grateful and touched I am for the affection you have shown me over the past 12 years.
We have accomplished so much together since the iconic Sir Alex Ferguson welcomed me to this club and granted me the honor of donning this symbol. Every time I wore this shirt, I was incredibly proud of myself. Leading the team and representing this organization, the greatest club in the world, is a privilege given to only a select few.
The voyage has been both successful and amazing during my stay here. I had no idea the things we would accomplish as a team when I left Madrid as a young lad. Now is the time for a fresh challenge, a chance to put my abilities to the test in various scenarios, and an opportunity to welcome new beginnings.
I was moulded by Manchester, and that influence will always be a part of who I am. I will always hold this team, Old Trafford, and our amazing supporters in the highest regard.
