Jarrod Bowen scored a penalty in injury time, sealing a 2-1 victory for West Ham over Manchester United and relieving some pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui.

Casemiro thought he had equalized for United with a header less than ten minutes from the end, canceling out Crysencio Summerville’s opener in the 74th minute.

However, United were frustrated when referee David Coote was called to the pitchside monitor by the Video Assistant Referee to review Matthijs de Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings in the penalty area with three minutes left.

Despite United players protesting a handball by Ings, Coote awarded the penalty, which Bowen calmly converted, slotting it past Andre Onana.

United controlled possession and created chances in the first half at the London Stadium but struggled to finish and regretted their missed opportunities.

After a lackluster opening half, West Ham improved in the second half and launched several attacks on United’s box, eventually scoring when Summerville directed Ings’ mis-hit shot into the net.
