Manchester City faced a setback when Erling Haaland, Norway’s striker, injured his ankle during international duty. The 23-year-old came off the bench in a friendly match, which his team won 2-0, but sustained the injury just a few minutes before the game ended.
According to Ola Sand, the Norwegian national team’s doctor, it appeared that Haaland had re-injured the same ankle as before. Sand mentioned to Vg, “He twisted his ankle a bit, causing some weakness. Initially, it’s quite painful, but the discomfort fades away quickly. We’ll assess him again tomorrow.”
Haaland’s impressive form from the previous season has continued, having scored 17 goals in 18 games across various competitions this season.
Should Haaland be unable to play, it could adversely impact Manchester City’s quest for last season’s triple titles.
