Manchester City’s Rodri and Jack Grealish are on the verge of a Premier League suspension with one more yellow card potentially affecting their participation in the upcoming matches.
Players who accumulate five bookings within the first 19 league matches must sit out the subsequent game. Following their clash against Liverpool, City is set to face Tottenham on December 3rd, followed by an encounter with Aston Villa three days later.
Rodri gained attention during City’s recent game against Chelsea when he fouled former teammate Cole Palmer in the 72nd minute of a 4-4 draw. His yellow cards against Fulham, West Ham, and Brighton add to the disciplinary concern.
The 27-year-old already served a three-game suspension earlier in the season after being sent off for aggressive behavior against Nottingham Forest in September. City faced defeats in all three games Rodri missed, including losses in League Cup, Premier League, and another league game.
On the other hand, Grealish received four Premier League yellow cards, predominantly in added time, with three of them occurring late in matches against Forest, Chelsea, and Brighton after being brought on as a substitute.
Grealish has avoided a Premier League ban since March 2015 during his Aston Villa days and has yet to miss a Manchester City match in any competition.
Both players need to be cautious in the next seven Premier League games. If they accumulate ten yellow cards before the club’s 32nd gameweek, they face a two-game suspension.
