While Marcus Rashford is working hard to score goals for Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag has stated that the star striker is aware that he could ‘do better’.

The Red Devils suffered their fourth loss in as many Premier League games on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace at home.

Despite needing a goal, Rashford was replaced by midfielder Christian Eriksen in the 77th minute as the hosts struggled to create many clear-cut chances at Old Trafford.

Rashford had a career-high 30 goals in 56 games for United in the 2022–23 season, but he has only scored once in eight games to start the new season.

Ten Hag addressed Rashford’s sluggish start to the season following Saturday’s loss to Palace.

“I believe he realizes he can do better than he does right now. He puts a lot of effort into everything he does. It won’t be automatic, but he will score, finish, and it will happen, the Dutchman said.

“He must invest significantly, as must the group of people surrounding him. Today, despite being in the right positions, we made poor decisions, which prevented us from scoring.

United has had their worst start to a league season in 34 years with nine points from seven games. They have only managed to score seven goals while giving up 11.

Before the October international break, Ten Hag’s team has two more games; on Tuesday, they host Brentford in the Premier League before welcoming Galatasaray to Old Trafford in the Champions League.
