Since he is not involved in the process, Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that he is unaware of the status of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed minority takeover of Manchester United.

Ratcliffe has agreed to parameters of a deal that will see him buy 25% of the club’s shares with the intention of eventually taking control completely from the Glazer family. However, the agreement’s specifics still need to be worked out.

The founder of INEOS, a corporation that currently owns Nice in France, is eager to get involved at United and has created a leadership committee to oversee the club’s financial affairs.

There is still confidence that Ratcliffe will eventually finish his minority buyout of the team, even though talks behind closed doors have not progressed to the point where an agreement is ready to be voted on by the club’s shareholders.

When asked if he was aware of the negotiations, Ten Hag maintained that his role was just to oversee football games.

Ten Hag responded, “No, [he has not been kept informed],” “So, while others in the club are handling this, I’m not participating in it.

“I’m concentrating on my team, the current block, and the upcoming game as my top priority. That is the main concern.”

Ratcliffe intends to join Joel Glazer, the current co-chairman of United, and Sir Dave Brailsford, head of sport for INEOS, in a three-person leadership group, as 90min knows.

The 71-year-old is eager to surround himself with knowledge and will draw on his years of experience in the sports industry. Paul Mitchell, the former sporting director of Monaco, is one of the candidates being considered for the new look board.

Ratcliffe has stated that he still wants a complete takeover and is looking for guarantees regarding the acquisition of future club shares. Ratcliffe modified his original bid to purchase the club in order to give the Glazers an opportunity to stay at Old Trafford.
