Manchester City dropped points for the second consecutive Premier League match after Newcastle United fought back to secure a draw.

In their first game since losing Rodri to a season-ending injury, City absorbed some early pressure and took the lead when Jack Grealish set up Josko Gvardiol for a goal.

However, they were equalized in the second half when Anthony Gordon won a penalty and successfully converted it past Ederson.

Both teams had opportunities to snatch a winner, but they had to settle for a point. Here’s how the City players were rated for their performances:

Ederson: Made several excellent saves and was unfortunate to concede a penalty in the second half. 7

Walker: Got caught trying to play Gordon offside for the penalty and couldn’t recover. 5

Dias: Managed the defense well and kept City pushing forward in search of a winner. 6

Akanji: Advanced into midfield when possible and dealt with everything that came his way at the back. 7

Gvardiol: Had a tough time in the first half against Murphy and Trippier but showed striker instincts to score. 6

Kovacic: Looked a bit frantic while trying to maintain control of the game. Showed effort but lacked the decisive pass. 6

Lewis: Assisted Kovacic and Gundogan but didn’t get much time on the ball to break through the Newcastle defense. 6

Gundogan: Played wider as De Bruyne usually does before moving inside but struggled to dictate the game. 5

Silva: Had little success with his attempts but kept the ball moving and provided an outlet on the right. 6

Grealish: Created the first goal with his quick thinking and agility, proving to be a nuisance for Newcastle, especially for Tonali, throughout the match. 7

Haaland: Showed strong defensive efforts and worked hard to generate opportunities despite limited service. 6
