Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller has expressed regret to Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek, on loan from Man United, joined Frankfurt in the January transfer window for a minimal fee, with an option for a permanent £9.3 million move in the summer.

However, he has only featured in three games for Frankfurt since departing Old Trafford.

Van de Beek was notably left out of Frankfurt’s Europa Conference League squad for the knockout stages ahead of their match against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Toppmoller apologized to the Dutch midfielder for the omission, citing his limited game time over the past two years as a factor.

Despite this, Toppmoller expressed full confidence in Van de Beek’s abilities, expecting him to contribute significantly in the second half of the season.

Van de Beek’s reaction to being excluded from the squad impressed Toppmoller, particularly his performance in a recent friendly where he scored a goal and provided two assists.

Toppmoller noted Van de Beek’s readiness to embrace the challenge ahead. This loan stint marks Van de Beek’s second since his £35 million move to Man United from Ajax in 2020.

After a brief spell at Everton in the 2021/22 season, Van de Beek, with 62 appearances for Man United, aims to revive his career in Germany.
