Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is currently involved in a legal dispute that has drawn significant attention away from the pitch.
The 25-year-old Argentine international, a key figure for both Liverpool and the Argentina national team, is reportedly being sued by Mayan, a model and social media influencer, over unresolved financial issues stemming from their five-year relationship, according to *The Mirror*.
The lawsuit comes two years after their breakup, which was allegedly caused by Mac Allister leaving Mayan for her friend, Ailén Cova, who is now his current partner.
Ahead of Argentina’s match against Paraguay during the international break, Mac Allister addressed the matter, confirming their relationship had ended definitively and noting that the case is being handled through legal channels.
He acknowledged that Mayan’s decision to pursue legal action was within her rights and stated that their differences had already been discussed at the time of their separation.
He said:
“There was no more relationship. She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it.”
“As for the other thing (lawsuit), everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting. At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision. Everything is fine, and she is within her rights.”
Mac Allister’s impact at Liverpool
Since joining Liverpool in June last year, Mac Allister has become a standout performer. Signed on a five-year contract for a bargain £35 million, potentially rising to £55 million with add-ons, he has quickly established himself as a vital member of the team.
