Liverpool may be without Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa for their upcoming Champions League match against Bologna.

A recent training update revealed that while a scan on Jota’s foot injury came back clear, there’s still no definitive news on Chiesa’s condition.

Vinny O’Connor from Sky Sports reported, “One positive is that Darwin Nunez is back in training after missing the Wolves game due to illness.

However, Diogo Jota isn’t training today due to a foot injury. The scan showed no serious damage, but his participation against Bologna is uncertain. Darwin Nunez could start instead.”

He also added, “As for Federico Chiesa, we’re unsure about his situation. We’ll get more details from Arne Slot later.”

Jota had caused concern after limping off during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves, but Arne Slot’s pre-Bologna press conference should provide further injury updates.

With Chiesa and Jota now potentially sidelined, Liverpool’s injury list includes three key players. Harvey Elliott remains out after fracturing his foot during an England U21 training session in early September.

Fortunately, Jota’s recovery seems promising, and there’s hope for positive news about Chiesa ahead of Liverpool’s busy schedule later in October.

The team will play four matches between October 20 and 30, giving Chiesa opportunities to feature and provide Mo Salah with some rest.

Slot confirmed that Chiesa missed the latest training session due to minor injury concerns and will miss the Champions League match but hopes to feature in the league clash with Crystal Palace before the international break.
