A Liverpool player has suffered a significant injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of this calendar year.

Arne Slot was already dealing with several player absences, including Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa, and Harvey Elliott, ahead of the Champions League match against RB Leipzig.

While the hope is for most to return soon, one young player, Luke Chambers, who was out on loan, will not be back until 2025 due to a serious back injury.

Chambers, who had been on a season-long loan at Wigan, will now return to Liverpool for rehabilitation.

Wigan manager Shaun Maloney confirmed the 20-year-old’s injury and stated that Chambers will be out for several months, extending into the new year.

Although he won’t need surgery, the injury will require lengthy recovery under Liverpool’s supervision.

Maloney expressed his regret, explaining that the back problem has been an ongoing issue and is not a recent injury.

Chambers had been excelling at Wigan, with Maloney calling him their best player this season.

It’s a tough break for Chambers, who had been thriving in Wigan’s starting lineup.

Having made his first start for Liverpool in a Europa League match last year, he was praised by Trent Alexander-Arnold for his great potential.

Back injuries can be concerning, especially for a young player, but hopefully, Chambers will receive the necessary treatment and recover fully without future setbacks.
