According to sources who verified to 90min, David de Gea is continuing to reject advances from the Saudi Pro League and may retire from football if he does not receive a suitable offer to play again.

After departing Manchester United in June at the end of his contract, the Spaniard is still without a club. Although he had reached an agreement on conditions for a new contract, the Red Devils retracted their first offer and the new contract was never finalized.

While neither Real Madrid nor Bayern Munich ultimately made a bid for De Gea, 90min revealed throughout the summer that they had considered approaches for the goalkeeper.

Ninety minutes knows that De Gea would want to stay in Europe and he has made it known to interested parties from the Middle East, despite interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Qatari Stars League.

Cristiano Ronaldo, De Gea’s former colleague at Manchester United, has been attempting to persuade the goalkeeper to move to Al Nassr, but De Gea is standing by his current position.

De Gea is eager to return to Champions League action and is prepared to postpone making a decision until the January transfer window opens.

However, insiders told 90min that De Gea would think about retiring if he didn’t get the “right offer.”

De Gea, who turns 33 in November, has only played for two teams in his career: Atletico Madrid and Manchester United. He was not included in Spain’s roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has not competed for the country since 2020.

Andre Onana, the man who succeeded him at Manchester United, has had a difficult time adjusting to life at Old Trafford. Most recently, on Wednesday, they lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

In his last season at Manchester United, De Gea faced criticism for his lack of skill when playing with his feet and from the back, an area where Onana shines.
