David Beckham suggests his favorite Manchester United suitor to succeed Glazers

The Glazer family, who own Man Utd, is currently evaluating bids to purchase the team.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are still in the race.

David Beckham shared his opinions on the matter.

The legendary David Beckham of Manchester United has declared that he ‘knows the right individuals’ to unseat the Glazer family as the club’s owners.

A partial or complete acquisition of the team was among the “strategic alternatives” the Glazers declared last year that they would be open to considering in place of their current ownership.

Earlier this year, INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani submitted their last offers to purchase United from the Glazer family. Neither party has received a response from the American family regarding their acceptance of their offers.

Last week, 90min revealed that Ratcliffe was considering the possibility of potentially acquiring a minority interest in United. Before United’s 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday, supporters once again demonstrated against the Glazers and called for a complete sale.

When Beckham was at this weekend’s Formula 1 Qatari Grand Prix, Sky Sports queried him about the takeover process.

“We are one of the largest clubs in the world, if not the largest. We desire consistency. That, in my opinion, is the most crucial factor,” he remarked.

Beckham, who served as an ambassador for the contentious 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, responded, “We all have our favorites of who we feel needs to run the club and look after the club to take it back to where it belongs,” in response to a question about Sheikh Jassim’s bid.

“We are the best in our eyes and the fans’ eyes. We’ll see. Our goal is to return to the top, and I think I know who can help with that.

Beckham concluded by expressing compassion for United’s manager Erik ten Hag in light of the team’s terrible start to the 2023–24 season, which has seen them lose six of their first 11 games. However, he clarified that the noise generated off the field must be a hindrance.

“We’ll see. He’s a skilled mentor. Though there is a lot of noise at the club right now, it is a challenging moment. For him, it can’t be simple.” Beckham went on.

“Everyone wants the noise to stop. Everyone wants a choice to be made that benefits the team, the supporters, the players, and the management.”
