Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs interested in a potential transfer for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, as doubts linger over Darwin Nunez’s long-term future at Anfield.
Gyokeres has started this season in excellent form, building on an impressive debut campaign with Sporting, and a major transfer seems likely in the near future.
As recently reported by CaughtOffside, Chelsea are also admirers of Gyokeres, though he’s not their top target as they are still considering other players like Victor Osimhen.
Liverpool, however, view this season as crucial for Nunez, and according to Team Talk, they have identified Gyokeres as a possible replacement for the Uruguayan forward.
Gyokeres, seen as a complete forward, could be a significant addition to Arne Slot’s team, especially with Nunez showing inconsistency in his finishing despite flashes of quality.
Slot may have pinpointed this as a weakness in the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp, making Gyokeres an attractive option as an upgrade.
Team Talk also links other top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham with the 26-year-old, suggesting that securing a deal for him could be challenging.
Gyokeres has an impressive record of 54 goals in 58 appearances for Sporting, including 11 goals in 8 games this season, and he recently netted three times in two matches for Sweden during the international break.
