Arsenal’s summer transfer window has been relatively quiet, with only two first-team signings: Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad and Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
However, despite the window closing soon, Arsenal were recently linked to a surprising late move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
With limited striking options, Mikel Arteta has been relying on Kai Havertz to cover for the injured Gabriel Jesus, which reportedly sparked interest in Nunez.
The Uruguayan forward has not started in either of Liverpool’s opening two Premier League games under new manager Arne Slot, who has favored a front three of Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, and Diogo Jota.
However, leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Nunez has no plans to leave Liverpool this summer.
Romano emphasized that despite the rumors, Nunez is fully focused on Liverpool and is happy with the new approach under Slot. He guaranteed that Nunez will not be leaving Anfield this summer.
While it appears Arsenal won’t be signing Nunez, Football Insider recently reported that Mikel Arteta might consider a last-minute move for Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has indicated that Toney is close to securing a lucrative move to Saudi club Al-Ahli.
