Chelsea have sacked Enzo Maresca in the early hours after he failed to win his last three league matches, and the club has now confirmed his replacement.

Journalists waiting in Chelsea’s media area for Enzo Maresca have been informed that the head coach will not be attending his scheduled post-match press conference.

Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill wrote on X: “Enzo Maresca won’t be doing post-match interviews for Chelsea tonight, as we’ve been told he’s not feeling well.”

After a draw that leaves Chelsea with just one league win from their last seven outings, Maresca will not be answering questions this evening.

The situation appears to reflect growing frustration, with the manager seemingly unwilling to face further scrutiny over the team’s declining form.

There is no indication that this absence signals an immediate dismissal, although such rumours are already spreading.

That outcome cannot be completely ruled out, but it seems unlikely. If the club were planning to remove him, they would not handle it in this manner, and there is no sense that his position is currently under urgent threat.

There had been signs this could happen. Pep Guardiola skipped a press conference a few weeks ago without explanation, leaving Kolo Touré to step in.

Broadcasters are likely to push back at some point, but it is becoming clear that some managers believe they can avoid these obligations.

Of course, it is also possible that Maresca is genuinely unwell.

On the pitch, Estevão was Chelsea’s standout performer, showing quick feet, taking on defenders, and providing the team’s main attacking spark.

Chelsea’s goals came from Cole Palmer, who converted a penalty after a driving run from Estevão, and from Enzo Fernández, who fired a powerful shot into the top corner from outside the box.
