Fans expressed intense dissatisfaction with Reece James for receiving what they deem a “foolish” red card during Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat against Newcastle. They criticized him as the “worst captain at Chelsea” and lambasted his actions as “dumb.”

Reece James, Chelsea’s team leader, was shown a red card in their match against Newcastle United on November 25, sparking outrage among supporters. Alexandre Isak initially put Newcastle ahead in the 13th minute, with Raheem Sterling later equalizing for Chelsea ten minutes later, leading to a level score at halftime.

However, Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton swiftly scored within a minute around the hour mark, securing an insurmountable lead for the Magpies. The situation worsened for the visiting team when their captain, James, received his second yellow card for a foul on Gordon 17 minutes before the end, resulting in his dismissal.

Newcastle sealed the victory with Gordon’s goal in the 83rd minute, marking Mauricio Pochettino’s team’s fifth defeat in 13 league games this season. Fans expressed fury towards James for his red card, with one on Twitter branding him as the “Worst captain at Chelsea.” Another commentator mentioned, “A captain made two reckless yellow cards. That was a regrettable decision.”

Meanwhile, Edgar Howe, Newcastle United’s manager, lauded his team’s resilience and determination in their match against Chelsea. The Magpies, who had faced losses in recent tournaments, made a strong return to winning ways, securing a significant victory. Howe highlighted the commendable performance by Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier, and Matt Ritchie, emphasizing their role in maintaining the team’s perseverance.

Chelsea’s upcoming league game is scheduled for December 3 against Brighton & Hove Albion, while Newcastle faces PSG in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
