Bruno Fernandes’ candid post-match remarks following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool have drawn widespread praise from fans for his honesty and leadership during a difficult period for the club.

The result came after a crushing 4-0 loss to Newcastle on December 30, marking United’s fourth straight defeat and raising doubts about their ability to compete with league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

Despite the pressure, the Red Devils delivered one of their most cohesive performances under manager Ruben Amorim, holding Arne Slot’s side to a hard-fought draw.

Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring with a brilliant strike before Liverpool responded with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah.

Amad Diallo’s late equalizer ensured United earned a valuable point, lifting them to 13th in the Premier League, just above West Ham on goal difference, and maintaining a seven-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandes shared mixed emotions about the team’s display. He acknowledged United’s struggles this season and admitted they deserve criticism for their league position.

While he expressed pride in their ability to rise to the occasion against Liverpool, he lamented the inconsistency that has plagued their performances, calling for greater accountability and improvement.

On a personal note, Fernandes admitted it was one of the few recent games where he felt satisfied with his own contribution.

Fans appreciated Fernandes’ transparency and called on the team to demonstrate more pride and consistency.

As reigning FA Cup champions, United now prepare for a crucial third-round clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Building on the momentum from Anfield will be vital as the team looks to defend their title and rediscover their form.

Fernandes’ leadership and forthright comments have resonated with supporters, reflecting his determination to set higher standards for the club.

The upcoming FA Cup clash presents a chance for United to turn their season around and restore a sense of purpose in the squad.
