Vinicius Jr Linked to Premier League? Fabrizio Romano Shuts Down Rumors
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed recent reports linking Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr to Manchester United, Chelsea, or other major European clubs.
Despite his incredible performances, including a runner-up finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or race, Romano clarified that such rumors are “far from reality” at the moment.
While Vinicius is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, Romano confirmed there are no ongoing talks between the Brazilian and clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, or PSG.
However, the Saudi Pro League continues to express strong interest in signing the winger with lucrative offers.
Romano Clears the Air
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano addressed the speculation:
“In recent days, I’ve been asked whether Vinicius is heading to Saudi Arabia, Chelsea, or Manchester United. While it’s understandable for clubs to admire a player of his quality, there is no truth to these claims.
At this stage, no negotiations are happening between Vinicius and any European clubs, including Chelsea, PSG, or Manchester United.”
Saudi Pro League’s Ambitions
While a European move is off the table for now, Romano acknowledged that Saudi Pro League clubs remain keen to sign Vinicius Jr.
Reports suggest Al-Hilal is preparing a record-breaking €300 million (£252m/$327m) bid, potentially surpassing Neymar’s 2017 transfer to PSG as the most expensive deal in football history.
Saudi clubs have also reportedly considered offering €1 billion (£838.5m) over five years for the winger. However, Romano noted that Real Madrid has yet to receive any formal proposals.
Real Madrid’s Transfer Plans
As speculation around Vinicius Jr continues, Real Madrid is actively involved in other potential deals:
Trent Alexander-Arnold: The Liverpool defender is rumored to be interested in a move to Madrid.
Erling Haaland: Real Madrid remains interested in the Manchester City striker, with Rodrygo potentially being eyed by City as a replacement.
