Although currently ranked as the 66th greatest league in the world by TeamForm, the SPL (Saudi Pro League) is anticipated to undergo changes in the near future with an influx of renowned athletes relocating to the UAE to advance their careers.

Presently, the league has targeted athletes approaching the twilight of their careers, with a few exceptions. Despite the inclusion of well-known figures, the SPL has faced difficulties in attracting players in their prime. However, with the league’s expansion, it’s expected that more prominent names will join. Predicting the league’s growth in five years and its potential to challenge established leagues like the Premier League remains uncertain.

One player often linked to a move to Saudi Arabia is Casemiro, a midfielder from Manchester United. Nonetheless, there’s no indication of an imminent move to the SPL.

Fabrizio Romano, in an interview with footballwave for his exclusive Daily Briefing piece, mentioned, “As of now, there’s no development regarding Casemiro or negotiations with the Saudi Pro League teams. Summer will reveal more, considering various factors like Saudi intentions and decisions made by Man United.”

Casemiro’s performance has dipped this season, and with Sir Jim Ratcliffe overseeing athletics, it appears likely that the Brazilian will depart at some stage—either to the Saudi Pro League or elsewhere.
