Over a three-year span, the Toffees reported losses of £371.8 million, while the competition’s cap is £105 million. As a result, the team was charged by the Premier League in March for breaking FFP regulations.

The Premier League referred Everton to an independent committee to investigate the alleged breach of its sustainability and profitability principles after the club denied the allegations.

According to The Telegraph, the Premier League will request that Everton forfeit points if the impartial committee finds the team guilty.

Everton is now 16th in the Premier League with seven points from nine games this season.

In response to the Premier League’s original claims against the team, Everton released a statement saying, “The club strongly contests the allegation of non-compliance and together with its independent team of experts is entirely confident that it remains compliant with all financial rules and regulations.”

“Everton is prepared to present a robust defense of its position to the commission.”

The club has provided the Premier League with information in an open and transparent manner over a number of years. It has also consciously chosen to act in good faith at all times.

The Premier League has charged Everton for violating Rule W.82.1, the identical rule that Manchester City is alleged to have broken.
