Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, both of whom have faced recent setbacks in their bid to return to action after injuries.

Thiago, who underwent hip surgery in May, has suffered two setbacks while attempting to resume full training. Similarly, Stefan Bajcetic, who had overcome an adductor injury to make appearances for Liverpool, has faced another injury setback.

Klopp expressed his frustration with the situation, but he remains hopeful that both players will be available again after the international break. The setbacks have been a source of annoyance for Thiago, who has been eagerly working towards a return to the pitch.

“And as annoying as it is for Stefan Bajcetic. Was there, played a few minutes, and then felt something else. That’s how it is after long-term injuries from time-to-time.

“I don’t know, I will not put pressure on [when they can return]. If they will be back after international break, we will see. Hopefully, would be cool.”

On a more positive note, Jurgen Klopp had encouraging news regarding Cody Gakpo, who left the field with a knee brace during the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutchman is making good progress in his recovery and is nearing a return to action. Additionally, Conor Bradley, who has been sidelined since sustaining an injury in pre-season, is also on track to make a comeback, providing some relief on the injury front for Liverpoo

Klopp added: “Cody has a good chance that he will be back [after the break]. Already out of the brace, walks normal around here.

“So from all the very, very bad opportunities and possibilities injury-wise, we nearly got the best, but he is still injured.

“And Conor is on the way back. He is running. In that age group and with these kind of injuries, you tend to give them rather three weeks more than not enough because it has to be better.

“It has to do with the growing process of the body. Stuff like this.

“I couldn’t get this injury anymore, let me say it like that. And that’s why they need a bit of time.”
