Jadon Sancho has reportedly been forbidden from eating and interacting with teammates as part of his exile from the Manchester United first squad by manager Erik ten Hag.
Midway through September, Sancho was kicked out of United’s training group after openly accusing Ten Hag of using him as a “scapegoat” without offering an apology.
After Sancho was left out of United’s squad for the 3-1 loss against Arsenal, the Dutchman had criticized his training sessions, telling reporters, “On his performance on training we didn’t select him.” At Manchester United, you have to be at the top every single day. He wasn’t chosen for this game because you can make decisions on the front line.”
The 23-year-old Sancho hasn’t been spotted wearing a United shirt since. Ten Hag won’t allow Sancho to rejoin the team until he offers a heartfelt apology for his actions on social media.
According to the Daily Mail, Ten Hag has now given Sancho a stringent set of instructions, which include dining separately from his colleagues and avoiding mingling with them at the team’s Carrington training facility. He uses the same training facilities as United’s academy players, but he trains alone.
Though the fallout has been going on for more than six weeks, Ten Hag has stated that a potential reintegration “depends” on Sancho’s willingness to apologize for his actions. The England winger has shown no sense of contrition.

During a four-year stay in Germany, Sancho established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young wingers, making 104 games and scoring 38 goals in the Bundesliga after choosing to leave Manchester City at the age of 17.
After pursuing Sancho’s signature for two years and first looking to acquire him to cover the vacuum on the right wing, United finally agreed to pay Dortmund €85 million (£73 million) for him in July 2021. However, after playing on the opposing flank for the most of his time at BVB, Sancho immediately found himself in a competition with Marcus Rashford for a starting position and hasn’t been able to hold down a regular first-team slot.
Sancho’s international career has stalled since the postponed Euro 2020 final at Wembley, where he entered as a second-half substitute and missed a penalty against Italy. As a result, Sancho has lost the favor of England manager Gareth Southgate.
