In under two years since assuming the role following Ed Woodward, the 52-year-old is expected to step down as Manchester United’s Chief Executive.

This move comes as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group finalizes a 25% minority investment in the club, with confirmation imminent. Ratcliffe is set to take charge of sporting operations.

During Richard Arnold’s tenure, the handling of Mason Greenwood amid legal accusations drew criticism, particularly regarding plans to reintegrate Greenwood into the first team, followed by a reversal. Arnold, who served United for 16 years, announced his departure. Patrick Stewart will serve as interim CEO while also holding the role of General Counsel.

Arnold expressed gratitude for his time at the club, praising the dedication of employees and fans and wishing them well. Ratcliffe is expected to appoint new executives by December, with Jean Claude Blanc and Paul Mitchell being potential contenders for the CEO and sporting director positions, respectively. Sir Dave Brailsford is anticipated to contribute to the club’s operations.

These changes highlight a significant shift in leadership for Manchester United amidst new ownership and strategic alterations.
