Paul Joyce has delivered concerning injury news for Liverpool as they prepare for a crucial week in their season.

The Reds, currently leading both the Champions League and Premier League, are set to face Real Madrid on Wednesday and Manchester City next Sunday, both at Anfield.

However, Arne Slot’s squad, already coping with absences like Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, now faces another setback.

Kostas Tsimikas sidelined with ankle injury

On Tuesday, Joyce reported on X that Kostas Tsimikas is “facing a short spell on sidelines for Liverpool after injuring ankle in training.”

This update comes after David Lynch indicated uncertainty about the defender’s return, making it likely he’ll miss the upcoming matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Potential impact on Liverpool’s squad

Tsimikas’ absence could extend to games against Newcastle, Everton, and Girona, depending on his recovery timeline.

This puts additional pressure on Andy Robertson, who will need to stay fit and step up his performance after a challenging game against Southampton, where he conceded a penalty and struggled defensively.

While the situation is far from ideal for Slot, he has managed previous injury challenges without compromising results.

Fortunately, Joyce’s update suggests Tsimikas’ absence will be brief, and fans can hope to see him back in action soon.
