Arne Slot is now close to losing his job after a ‘reckless’ Liverpool player’s mistake left the manager facing serious consequences.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot is under growing scrutiny after yet another damaging collapse from his side, sparked by a costly error from one of his players.

The pressure on Slot intensified following Saturday’s chaotic draw with Leeds United, a match that once again exposed Liverpool’s defensive weaknesses and tactical flaws.

Despite racing ahead by two goals early in the second half, Liverpool couldn’t see the game out. Even if they had scored more, the result likely wouldn’t have changed. Several players in Slot’s squad look far from the required level, and the biggest blunder came from Ibrahima Konate.

Konate, widely viewed as Liverpool’s most disappointing performer this season, committed a disastrous foul on Wilfried Gnonto that gifted Leeds a penalty, calmly dispatched by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The goal reignited Leeds’ comeback and highlighted the defensive problems that have plagued Liverpool all year.

Although Dominik Szoboszlai briefly restored Liverpool’s advantage, few expected Slot’s side to hold on—and they didn’t. A familiar set-piece lapse in injury time allowed Leeds to equalise, sealing a frantic 3-3 draw.

Before this game, insiders insisted the club still backed Slot but needed a clear upturn in results across three key matches. Saturday’s showing was the first of those tests—and it went badly.

Slot’s team selections also raised eyebrows, particularly his insistence on playing Konate and his decision to bench Mohamed Salah for a third straight match.

Slot must now deliver immediate results, beginning with Inter Milan in Europe, followed by Brighton in the league.

Behind the scenes, Liverpool are already mapping out potential squad changes, including a future sale of Salah to the Saudi Pro League and identifying his long-term successor—one of whom is reportedly ready to move as early as next month.

The draw at Leeds has only deepened Liverpool’s current problems, exposing cracks in both the squad and the system.

With expectations not being met, Slot’s position is far from safe, and the coming weeks could determine his fate at Anfield.
