Longstanding Perceived Bias

Slot did not hold back in expressing his frustration, suggesting Liverpool has been unfairly treated by referees for years.

“Since Klopp’s time, we’ve been the most hated team by Premier League officials. It feels like they never want us to win,” he claimed.

His comments echo grievances Klopp previously voiced, particularly after Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Everton in April 2024, where the former manager apologized to fans and hinted at officiating inconsistencies.

Controversy in the Everton Match

Reflecting on Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Everton, Slot argued that questionable decisions could have cost them the match. “We dominated and should have won easily if not for wrong calls,” he insisted.

Slot’s own history with referees has been turbulent this season—he has received three bookings in 17 domestic games, leading to a touchline ban for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton.

Frustrated by his inability to influence refereeing decisions, he admitted, “I’ve tried to change things in England—it doesn’t work.”

Demand for Fairness

Slot’s criticism is not just a complaint but a call for reform. He urged the Premier League to ensure consistency and fairness in officiating to uphold the integrity of the competition.

His remarks have resonated with many Liverpool fans and pundits, who have long suspected refereeing bias against the club.

Looking Ahead

As Liverpool pushes forward under Slot, the team remains determined to overcome these challenges. His outspoken stance underscores his commitment to the club and his desire for a level playing field in English football.

Slot’s comments serve as a reminder of football’s need for transparency, ensuring that the game remains fair for all teams.
