Andy Robertson worries as a fresh injury scare for Liverpool surfaces ahead of the Merseyside derby.

This weekend marks Liverpool’s Premier League comeback, starting with a Merseyside rivalry at Anfield versus Everton.

But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has paid a heavy price for this international break. He will undoubtedly be without Andy Robertson for the crucial game on Saturday since the Scotland player suffered a significant shoulder injury during practice.

And as if that weren’t awful enough, it has now been revealed that the Liverpool team is worried the left-back might need surgery. But Klopp needs to worry about more injuries than just that one.

As we clarify in our Wednesday, October 18, morning Liverpool FC digest…

Liverpool is awaiting the findings of tests on Andy Robertson’s dislocated shoulder because they believe the left-back may need surgery.

Robertson was hurt when he challenged home goalie Unai Simon just before halftime during Scotland’s 2-0 loss in their Euro 2024 qualifying match last Thursday in Spain.

After being replaced right away, the left-back was sent back to Merseyside to see how much damage had been done.

As Jurgen Klopp’s team continues to contend on three fronts, the Reds are about to find out if the 29-year-old needs surgery to fix the damage, which would keep him out of action for an extremely long time.

Prior to Saturday’s Merseyside derby, Ben Doak has presented Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with yet another possible injury headache.

Due to a physical setback, Doak was forced to miss Scotland’s under-21 squad’s Tuesday night UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Malta.

The 17-year-old winger was substituted just after the hour mark in the U21s’ 3-1 victory against Hungary on Friday, despite having earned and scored a penalty in the first half. He was expected to be included in the squad for the Scotland senior team’s friendly against France that same evening.

While Liverpool is still awaiting word on the type and degree of the damage, Klopp is unwelcomely concerned about the ambiguity, especially in light of his availability concerns for Everton’s visit this coming weekend.
