David Norris suggests that 49ers Enterprises might be forced to dismiss manager Daniel Farke if Leeds United are not among the top three in the Championship by late October.
Farke lost 1-0 to Southampton in the playoff final after finishing third last season, failing to bring the Whites back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The German will get another chance in the 2024/25 season, but both supporters and club management expect nothing less than promotion.
Farke under pressure to deliver.
Former Leeds midfielder Norris, who scored four goals in 36 games for the club between 2012 and 2015, believes Farke could lose his job if the team isn’t at least third in the standings by late October.
When asked how long Farke might last if Leeds start poorly in 2024/25, Norris replied, “Not very.”
Norris added, “The pressure will be on after not securing promotion last season — they will be aiming for automatic promotion.
“I think Leeds will definitely make a change if they aren’t in the top three by the end of October; if they start very poorly, it could be sooner.
“They were right to stick with him and give him another chance; however, the pressure is certainly on now.”
Leeds will learn their first opponent of the season when the Championship fixtures are announced on Wednesday.
They have friendlies scheduled with Yorkshire neighbors Harrogate Town and Spanish giants Valencia before the season starts.
