Alonso asks for five Liverpool departures after club decides to part ways with Slot

Reports claim Xabi Alonso has already outlined major squad changes he would want at Liverpool, including the departures of Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo, should he replace Arne Slot as manager.

According to the claims, Alonso has asked for five players to be sold in the summer if he takes charge at Anfield. The speculation follows Liverpool’s dramatic 2–2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, where the Reds surrendered a two-goal comeback by conceding deep into second-half stoppage time.

Liverpool are now winless in five Premier League matches, a run that saw Manchester United overtake them into fourth place over the weekend.

The slump has intensified pressure on Slot, who lifted the league title last season, with a report on Monday suggesting the club has already decided to part ways with him at the end of the campaign.

It is also said that Liverpool have Steven Gerrard lined up as a short-term option should a change be made sooner, while Alonso remains the leading candidate to take over permanently in the summer.

That same report suggested Alonso has requested four new signings, with Michael Olise, Bradley Barcola, Micky van de Ven, and Adam Wharton all named as targets.

Now, Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Alonso has made an additional demand, identifying five players he believes do not fit his vision. Ibrahima Konaté and Ryan Gravenberch are reportedly the first two on his list.

Mac Allister and Gakpo are also said to be among the players Alonso would be willing to sell, with the aim of freeing up wages and generating funds to secure deals for Barcola and Olise.

The report adds that the most difficult exit would be Mohamed Salah, leaving Liverpool facing a tough choice between accepting Alonso’s strict conditions or pursuing a less demanding alternative in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reporter Alan Irwin has stated that sources close to Alonso suggest the former Liverpool midfielder would be more than open to a return to the club.
