UNIQUE: “It’s true…” It surprises me that Romano claims Man City is considering a Chelsea back who is having trouble.
Marc Cucurella had just been signed by Chelsea at this time last year, and they were pleased to have gotten him before Manchester City.
We’re now eager to get rid of him after a year. On the final day, we came close to loaning him out, but we’re still unsure of what to do with our left back.
But it appears that there were already preparations made to let him go in January. Fabrizio Romano revealed exclusively to Caughtoffside that Manchester City sought to get him on a loan deal in January, six months after they missed out on signing him in the summer.
“However, it is true that Chelsea received a loan bid from Manchester City to send Marc Cucurella to Chelsea at the start of January. Additionally, it had a choice to buy—this was not necessary. Since Chelsea rejected Cucurella’s request to join them because they wanted him to stay with them, nothing else has occurred between Cucurella and Man City.
It will be difficult to terminate Cucurella permanently because he signed for such a large sum of money and is receiving such a large salary. He might receive a few loans and then be quietly shoved out the back door, like so many of our other high-profile ventures that didn’t pan out.
