Barcelona and Marcos Alonso are set to part ways this June, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
El Laguero reports that Alonso has reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to join them as a free agent once he departs from Barca.
However, the completion of Alonso’s move to Madrid may depend on Atleti’s ability to offload certain defenders like Mario Hermoso, Gabriel Paulista, or others.
Alonso has spent much of the current season sidelined for Barca due to a back injury sustained in December. Although he made a return to action in late March, he has predominantly been benched.
With just seven appearances for Barca this season, Alonso stands as one of the least utilized outfield players under Xavi.
Having joined Barcelona in 2022 as a free agent, Alonso’s playing time has been limited, featuring in only 44 games during his tenure. Despite his restricted appearances, he managed to score three goals during this period.
