Before Southgate’s decision to leave the England team became public, there had been speculation linking him to a potential move to Manchester United as a successor to Erik ten Hag, who has been under pressure.
However, Manchester United has since reinforced their commitment to Ten Hag by extending his contract, keeping him at the club until 2026.
According to the *Daily Mail*, even if United encounters difficulties at the start of the 2023/24 season, the club is unlikely to consider Southgate as a managerial option.
Instead, if a managerial change becomes necessary, Manchester United would more likely turn their attention to Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager.
Tuchel was considered as a potential replacement for Ten Hag earlier in the summer after his departure from Bayern Munich.
