A Premier League club is in danger of receiving a 15-point deduction penalty ahead of the next season.

Leicester City is at risk of a 15-point deduction next season due to Profit and Sustainability (PSR) compliance issues, which could greatly impact the club.

After earning promotion by winning the Championship under Enzo Maresca’s leadership, the Foxes face this significant hurdle.

Despite their recent success, the club’s financial situation remains unstable, having been relegated from the Premier League just over a year ago.

The Telegraph reports that penalties for violating PSR rules could range from six to fifteen points.

A 15-point deduction is unlikely, but a 10-point penalty would be unprecedented in the Premier League. Earlier this year, Leicester disclosed losses of nearly £90 million, highlighting their financial struggles.

Charged in March for PSR rule violations over the three-year period ending in the 2022-2023 season, Leicester may need to generate significant revenue by June to avoid further breaches, limiting their summer transfer spending.

The league has precedent for such penalties: last season, Everton and Nottingham Forest faced eight and four-point deductions, respectively, for similar violations.

A severe points deduction would undermine Leicester’s efforts to re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

Compounding their troubles, manager Enzo Maresca is in talks with Chelsea about becoming their new manager. Sky Sports reports that Leicester has permitted Chelsea to negotiate with Maresca, and talks are progressing well for Chelsea.

If Maresca leaves, Leicester would face a significant setback, needing to find a new manager capable of steering the team through a challenging Premier League season, particularly under the threat of a points deduction.
