One Liverpool youngster is highly sought after on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The arrival of Federico Chiesa at Anfield has further bolstered Arne Slot’s already formidable attacking options, which could impact a young teammate now facing an even tougher challenge for first-team minutes.
On Thursday, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph reported that Liverpool has received at least seven loan offers for Ben Doak, with interest coming from both Premier League and Championship clubs.
The club has reportedly ‘given the green light’ for the 18-year-old to leave temporarily and is ‘considering the best option for his development.’
With Chiesa’s addition, and unless there are significant injuries in attack, Doak may find it difficult to secure much playing time for Liverpool this season, making a loan move likely the best option for his growth at this stage.
Although the teenager has only made 12 senior appearances in his young career, those have been for two of the UK’s biggest clubs, Liverpool and Celtic.
He impressed enough to be included in Scotland’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, though an injury ultimately kept him out of the tournament.
Doak has even earned praise from the legendary Sir Kenny Dalglish, who described the 18-year-old as ‘brilliant’ for Liverpool.
Praise from Dalglish, who has a stand named after him at Anfield, carries significant weight in this part of the world.
However, after being sidelined for several months last season due to knee surgery, Doak will need careful management by any club that takes him on loan.
A full season in either the Premier League or Championship could be incredibly beneficial for the talented youngster, whose immediate prospects at Liverpool appear limited but who could thrive with regular game time in one of England’s top two tiers.
It’s no surprise that the young Scot is attracting such widespread interest from clubs eager to seize the opportunity for a loan deal now that Chiesa has joined Liverpool.
