The star of Newcastle United has thought about changing national teams. Despite earning only one senior cap for the Three Lions, Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes is reportedly considering switching his international allegiance from England to Scotland.
Despite making just one appearance for England, the 25-year-old moved from Leicester City to Newcastle this summer and has appeared to be on the verge of joining Gareth Southgate’s squad for some time.
Barnes may prefer to play for Scotland instead because he is eligible due to his grandparents and because manager Steve Clarke is a fan, according to the Times.
Although some England supporters will surely think Barnes could play more than he has thus far for them, Barnes may be a fantastic addition to the Scotland team.
Since players like Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, James Maddison, and others are vying for the same positions, England’s offense is quite competitive.
