Legendary Italian player Paolo Maldini’s interest in collaborating with Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been reported once Ratcliffe completes the acquisition of the company.

The finalization of the Englishman’s purchase of a 25 percent stake in the Red Devils is nearing, and an official announcement is expected in the upcoming weeks. Fans are hopeful that the deal will conclude before the January transfer window, enabling Ratcliffe, set to take immediate charge of sporting matters, to apply his marketing expertise.

Richard Arnold’s departure as chief executive officer by the end of December was confirmed recently, with Jean-Claude Blanc speculated to be his long-term replacement. Ratcliffe’s ownership is likely to bring significant changes to the Manchester United hierarchy.

Maldini was a contender for the sporting director position, sought to facilitate the acquisition of players required by manager Erik ten Hag to strengthen the team. According to The Telegraph, Maldini is among the candidates considered for the role, alongside AC Milan’s Ricky Massara, Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta, and Atalanta’s Lee Congerton. Atalanta is also exploring this position.
