The football player’s suffering may be coming to an end as the rebel organization from Colombia, ELN, demanded that their forces release the player’s father after they captured both of his parents last week.
The 26-year-old Liverpool star will not play for the Reds against Nottingham Forest on Sunday since it has been reported that his parents were arrested in Northern Colombia during the weekend.
After he and his mother were kidnapped by armed men on motorcycles at a gas station in the small town of Barrancas, the father of the football player was reported missing. Later on, his mother was found.
In a statement released on Thursday, the peace mission of the Colombian government—which is currently in negotiations with the ELN—stated that it was “officially aware” that the kidnapping had been “perpetrated by a unit that belongs to ELN.”
