Maddy Cusack, a player for Sheffield United’s women’s squad, passed away at the age of 27.
The footballer, who also served as a marketing executive for the business, passed away on Wednesday, the club announced on Thursday.
Cusack had made 100 appearances for the club during the previous season and has been a member of the Bramall Lane squad since January 2019.
Stephen Bettis, the club’s chief executive, said, “This is heartbreaking news for everyone at Bramall Lane.”
She was a valuable member of her family due to her friendly disposition and commitment to her job; she will be sadly missed.
The Club will extend all available support to Maddy’s family, friends, and coworkers while taking in the news and moving ahead.
Before switching to the Blades, Cusack spent one season playing for Birmingham. The statement from the Blues reads, “The Club are saddened to learn of the passing of former player Maddy Cusack.” We are frequently thinking of Maddy’s family and friends at this terribly tough time.
Also expressing their condolences, the West Ham United women’s team posted on social media that “the thoughts of everyone at West Ham United are with Maddy’s family, friends, and everyone at Sheffield United during this difficult time.”
