Manchester United lost 4-3 against Bayern Munich to begin their Champions League season at the Allianz Arena.
Man United was supposed to respond to recent Premier League losses to Arsenal and Brighton to get their season going, but errors from custodian Andre Onana gave Bayern Munich the victory.
Another fresh addition to Manchester United Rasmus Hojlund had a strong performance after scoring the club’s first goal of his career. In a lacklustre team effort, Man United’s loan left back Sergio Reguilon was another standout player.
On Andrè Onana’s error, Paul Scholes said, “He’s got to get over it quickly, he can’t let it affect the rest of his performance.”
Andre Onana accepted responsibility for the loss and informed CBS that he would like to have an interview. They agreed to his request and chose to inquire about Onana’s Man United career thus far and what went wrong.
It’s difficult to get lost this way, Onana explained. We had a strong start to the game, but following my error, we lost momentum. Being the one who failed the team puts the team and me in a terrible predicament. The squad was excellent, but because of me, we were unable to prevail in this contest. This is the life of a custodian; we just need to move on.
I owe it to the supporters to get better. My worst game to date.
Fans were impressed by Onana’s gesture, which demonstrates his willingness to address his detractors and enhance his performances. After a poor performance, not many footballers in the present era would act in this manner.
Regarding Onana’s postgame interview, Rio Ferdinand said:
“I value that. I’ve made blunders, lost games, and occasionally avoided the media. That demonstrated his moral character and demonstrated his virtue.
