Manchester United has taken a key step for Jadon Sancho’s future.
Once Jadon Sancho publicly disagreed with Man United manager Erik ten Hag’s appraisal of the specific nature of the dispute between player and club on social media, there was always going to be fallout.
The Dutchman has previously shown that he doesn’t care about reputations by cutting ties with Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portuguese’s interview with Piers Morgan and withdrawing his offer to David de Gea of a new contract in order to start Andre Onana as the team’s goaltender.
Although it is currently unknown why Sancho decided to publicly air his dissatisfaction, it is clear that the club is taking the situation seriously even though it is believed that the message he posted has since been removed.
According to a statement on the official Man United website, the player will now work out apart from the first squad.
He has been given a personal training regimen and will surely be expected to maintain his condition even though he is aware that he is not now eligible for selection.
However, the statement continues by stating that the punishment is postponed until the disciplinary matter has been addressed, which can be read in one of two ways.
Both parties can decide to part ways peacefully for the good of the team, or Ten Hag can decide to wash his hands of the player and try to offload him as quickly as possible.
Given that he hasn’t exactly lit up Old Trafford since signing, one may assume that United fans won’t be that concerned if it’s the former.
