A Newcastle legend was admitted to the hospital following bleeding in the brain.
Steve Harper, an icon of Newcastle, is in the hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
He experienced a subarachnoid hemorrhage on Monday, according to The Sun, and was taken to the hospital where he is now recovering.
Newcastle United was quick to express their solidarity with him.
The club’s statement read:
The club’s academy director, Steve Harper, had a subarachnoid hemorrhage on Monday, and Newcastle United is offering its condolences and best wishes to him and his family.
“The club is pleased to report that Steve is awake and recovering well in the hospital.”
“Steve, his family, and everyone at Newcastle United extend sincere gratitude to NHS staff for the superb care he is receiving,” the statement reads.
“Steve will have the club’s whole backing as he heals.
As Steve continues his recovery, “everyone associated with Newcastle United sends their best wishes to Steve and his family.”
Newcastle United fans adore Steve Harper, who made close to 200 appearances for the team throughout the course of his career, first as a player and then as a coach and director.
