Liverpool announce major contract update as highly-rated talent signs fresh deal at Anfield

Liverpool have confirmed a major contract update this Thursday, with one player officially extending his stay at Anfield.

Until now, six senior players were entering the final nine months of their deals, but one name is no longer on that list after signing fresh terms with the club.

Rio Ngumoha has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the Reds, a year after joining from Chelsea’s academy.

Just weeks before his 17th birthday in August, the forward announced himself with a dramatic 100th-minute winner on his Premier League debut against Newcastle. He has since earned his second senior start in the Carabao Cup win over Southampton.

While his new deal comes with a significant pay rise, Liverpool reportedly cap first-year pro contracts at £52,000 annually, with possible performance bonuses on top. By FA rules, 17-year-olds can only commit to a maximum of three years.

Ngumoha’s rise has been rapid and impressive. He’s already shown maturity beyond his years, drawing excitement from the Anfield crowd whenever he’s on the ball. At Chelsea, club legend John Terry had tipped him to become a “top, top player,” and his early Liverpool displays suggest he’s well on track.

Surrounded by experienced role models in the Liverpool dressing room, Ngumoha will continue to develop in an environment that demands high standards.

A huge milestone for the teenager—this is just the beginning of what looks like a very bright future at Anfield.
