**Liverpool Make Move for Florian Wirtz’s International Teammate Nick Woltemade**

Liverpool have reportedly taken initial steps toward signing Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade — a player well known to Florian Wirtz through their time together with the German national team.

As Wirtz’s blockbuster move to Anfield appears “99% done” according to several German outlets, the Reds could now be eyeing another rising star from the same international setup.

Liverpool Enter Race for Nick Woltemade

CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have held preliminary talks about a possible deal for the 23-year-old Woltemade, who made his senior debut for Germany in their Nations League clash with Portugal — a match where Wirtz also found the net.

Woltemade’s impressive form has sparked widespread interest, with clubs like Arsenal, West Ham, Brighton, Everton, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, and Roma also circling. Stuttgart reportedly value him at around €50m (£42.1m).

Liverpool’s interest is said to be “genuine,” and the club has made early contact as part of their summer transfer planning.

A Cheaper Striking Option for the Reds?

Compared to high-profile and higher-cost targets like Alexander Isak or Hugo Ekitike, Woltemade could present a more cost-effective option.

The 6’6” striker had a breakout 2024/25 season, scoring 17 goals in 33 appearances, helping Stuttgart to DFB-Pokal glory, and grabbing a hat-trick for Germany U21s against Spain.

He also boasts a strong shot accuracy rate, hitting the target with 50% of his attempts — better than Isak (43.2%), Ekitike (38.6%), and Benjamin Sesko (43.9%). His 4.38 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes also outperformed those of the other forwards.

With Darwin Nunez potentially on the way out, Liverpool may see Woltemade as a smart, lower-risk replacement — especially with Wirtz possibly putting in a good word for his fellow German.

This is one to watch closely as Liverpool continues shaping its post-title squad for Arne Slot.
