According to Fabrizio Romano, Jeremie Frimpong’s move to Liverpool is essentially complete, with all documents signed and an official announcement expected soon.

The Dutch right-back has impressed during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top attacking full-backs.

His performances made him a standout candidate for Liverpool, especially with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to depart.

Romano reports that the transfer is finalized pending formal confirmation, with Liverpool paying around €35 million for Frimpong—a fee considered excellent value, especially given Alexander-Arnold is leaving on a free transfer.

Frimpong appears to be an ideal addition for Arne Slot’s squad. Known for his offensive flair, he frequently played as a wing-back at Leverkusen and delivered double-digit goals and assists during their 2023/24 title-winning campaign.

While replacing Alexander-Arnold’s unique skill set will be difficult, Frimpong brings his own brand of creativity and energy to the role.

Liverpool writer Peter Kenny Jones commented that Frimpong will face high expectations, especially with fan-favorite Conor Bradley already in the squad. Due to Bradley’s injury history, signing another right-back was crucial.

Though Frimpong may not be a traditional defensive full-back, his potential connection with Mohamed Salah is particularly exciting. Despite some concerns, the signing is seen as smart business.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s transfer activity may not stop with Frimpong. The club is reportedly also closing in on Leverkusen’s star midfielder Florian Wirtz.

Sources suggest Wirtz has turned down other major offers in favor of a five-year deal with Liverpool.

The duo of Frimpong and Wirtz, who were both pivotal for Leverkusen, could bring a dynamic edge to Liverpool’s squad for the upcoming season.
