Xavi Simons’ future remains uncertain as the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder continues to draw interest from top European clubs following a standout season at RB Leipzig.

His strong performances in the Bundesliga have attracted attention from elite sides, with Caught Offside reporting that Liverpool are preparing a move to bring him to Anfield.

The Reds reportedly see Simons as a potential successor to Luis Diaz, with internal talks pointing toward a formal offer in the works. Manager Arne Slot is said to be open to Diaz leaving this summer, with Simons lined up as a replacement.

Barcelona have publicly expressed interest in Diaz, which may further open the door for Simons’ arrival.

Intense competition for Simons’ signature

Liverpool, however, aren’t alone in pursuing the talented midfielder. Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also closely monitoring his situation. RB Leipzig are willing to part ways with Simons, but only if their €70 million asking price is met.

A graduate of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Simons has expressed a desire to return to Camp Nou at some point.

However, the Catalan club’s financial constraints and transfer priorities may prevent a move this summer, potentially giving English clubs an advantage.

RB Leipzig are reportedly aiming to balance their finances and have officially made Simons available for transfer. Premier League sides are currently leading the race, with Manchester City paying particularly close attention.

A potential deal could include a five-year contract, an annual salary of €10 million, and a significant signing bonus.

With several major clubs circling and Leipzig open to negotiations, the coming weeks are likely to be crucial in determining the next step for one of Europe’s most promising young talents.

Former Leipzig manager Marco Rose once described Simons as a true “difference-maker” on the pitch.
