Florian Wirtz Drawing Heavy Transfer Interest as Liverpool Gain Edge

Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in Europe, attracting serious interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old German international has been in outstanding form this season, racking up 16 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga champions.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly already in contact with Wirtz in hopes of persuading him to make a move to the Premier League this summer.

Liverpool Lead the Race Amid Bayern’s Financial Constraints

While Bayern Munich are keen to secure Wirtz’s signature, they are reportedly hamstrung by financial limitations. According to Anfield Watch, the Bavarian giants would need to offload several players—potentially including Kingsley Coman or Sacha Boey—to balance the books before affording Wirtz’s expected price tag of around €150 million.

In contrast, Liverpool are in a stronger financial position and would not need to sell any players to fund a move for the dynamic midfielder, giving them a notable edge in negotiations.

Football Transfers’ Bundesliga analyst Ronan Murphy told Anfield Watch, “There are plenty of reasons for Wirtz to go to Bayern, but the financial reality could block that move.

Liverpool, on the other hand, could likely make it happen without needing to make any sales—so yes, that gives them an advantage.”

Slot Seeking a Creative Midfield Forcel

Liverpool have been measured in their spending in recent windows, with Federico Chiesa their only major signing last summer—secured on a cut-price deal. Despite their fiscal caution, Arne Slot has steered the team to a strong campaign.

Bringing in Wirtz would provide a huge boost to Liverpool’s midfield.

His ability to both score and create goals would offer Slot the kind of X-factor the team currently lacks beyond Mohamed Salah, potentially making the German playmaker a transformational signing for the Reds.
